Did i jinx it by posting this?

oh well....

Here's hoping it doesn't fall through!

2 weeks

We have an offer on our house.  YIPPEEE!  Praise God!!  They made us an offer we could not refuse!

Catch: they want us out of the house by the 20th of March.

18 days.

They want to close on the 18th and move in starting at 5 pm on the 20th.

Of course, this is the first of many steps.  We accepted the offer, but now the inspection, appraisal, etc...all have to go well.

But if it does all go well, we will be out of the house in 2 weeks.  And move where, you ask?

Good question.

Anyone looking for a couple of swell roommates and one cute puppy?

Thank goodness I bought Trey a tent for Christmas one year when we were dating.  We may be pitching it in the park.

catching up

hello. anyone still out there? My days of daily blog stories are long gone, so it seems.
that does not mean my life is not blog worthy.

I will number for easy reading, naturally, and include the subject matter.
You know, just in case you care.

1) Home Front: We are no longer for sale by owner - we have listed it with a legit agent. Who knew I would be so terrible at selling a home? Apparently a cute malte-poo and great candles are not all that sells a house. Our agent is great. In fact, I have been out of the house all day while she shows the house several different times. Awesome. I went to the gym, and now am at the coffee shop blogging. Notice I did not say shower. Which leads me to my next topic -

2) Death of a Chi - Remember my chi story from a year ago? Well, it kinda happened again. My Chi died yesterday. I told my boss I almost called in sick, but alas, I have a great work ethic. Dang my guilty heart. My hair was long last time this tragedy struck, so I was able to pull it back with ease. Well, now I have short hair. So it was an unfortunate sight. No fear, another Chi was overnighted, but has not come in yet. I shall wait to shower until then. If you are in the 'burg and see me today, I will go ahead and apologize now for the nappiness that is my hair.
To make matters worse, my hair dryer fried my hair last week. Really. Fried. I had an hour and half deep conditioning treatment at the salon to remedy this, with little luck. The only
hope: my chi, which is now dead. Trey says between my hair products and my speeding tickets, we are broke. Which is a perfect lead to #3...

3) Good cop/Bad cop - A few posts ago I told the story about my first speeding ticket. Whatev. I paid the ticket and went on my merry way. He was nice, and even though I peeled out in front of him, he wished me well on my way. Fast forward to last week: Enter bad Hattiesburg cop. I was heading to work, minding my own business, when I got pulled over. FOR GOING 21 MPH. get a life, cop. The limit was 15, and while I normally follow this rule, I
was on the phone with my mom and a bit distracted. I guess my lead foot got the best of me
and I hit the big 2-0. Pa-lease. This is when it happened: the tears started flowing. I was stressed anyway, and the mean guy was relentless. He demanded to know where I worked, and even put it on my ticket. Why does that matter? Was is it to him? I then witnessed him letting another woman go. Don't tick me off, cop. I called my state rep. (yes, indeed) , the city council, and the police station. To no avail. I had to go to court last week and pay up. FOR GOING 21 MPH. Next Tuesday I have driving school. Seriously, cop. Catch the drug dealers and robbers in the city. Leave me be.

4) New car - trey got a new truck. Not a big deal for some of you, but he was a bit attached to his old dodge. It was his high school truck. Yep. High school. Nothing else to say, except that I am proud that my husband was able to let go and move forward with a new car. He is growing up so fast.
(not his truck, but you get the idea. Looks like this:)

5) Baby mama - we had a shower for amanda last weekend in memphis. so fun. she is the cutest mama-to-be. All belly. Nothing else. I am not bitter, for I have never been with child, but fair warning, Boo: when I am large and in charge with a baby in tow, I will be bitter when my butt explodes and my face swells. Anyway, enough about that. It was so great getting to see
so many of my friends. I miss everyone so much! Let's do it again soon. At the birth of baby Kate, perhaps?

6) Terrible Twos - only not so terrible. Still a perfect angel. (I can say that, for I am the aunt) Henry turned two in december, but we had his party in November. It was a hayride. he loved it. Absolutely adorable. A few things of note: he can say his entire ABCs (even the LMNOP part) and adds the 'next time won't you sing with me'. He can count high. Like to
10 or something. And he will tell you that Christmas is here for Jesus's birthday. Cute kid. Birthday pictures courtesy of Laura.

Now you are caught up a bit in the life of Heather. I feel there is more to tell. I am forgetting something. Oh well, will think of it later.

Heading home to see if my chi has arrived. Wish me luck!!

Baby, it's cold outside

This is what we woke up to yesterday morning! It snowed for hours!!  Here is our home (which is still for sale...interested anyone??)  in the snow! I didn't have to go to work, so I stayed in my PJs and cooked soup and wrapped presents all day while watching Christmas movies.  Such is the life.

This is how Sophie fell asleep the other night.  Cutest thing ever.

You can tell she is ticked that I woke her up in the above picture.

Naturally, I put her santa hat on her for a few more photos.
Christmas card next year? I think so.  I have about 15 more.  She didn't move the whole time.  Sleepy girl.

Message board, I hate you.

I hate message boards.

Why do I read them, I ask?  The only people who take the time to respond are those with bad attitudes, and from the looks of things, bad grammar.

I read all my newspaper readings online (the green way of doing things. Long live earth) and I am always intrigued by the comments on the articles.  What could possibly be so interesting about a new light going up to generate 48 comments?  Reels me in every time.

If you know me, you know the happenings down here that resulted in my dear hubby's job to be in the paper.  I would read those ignorant comments in response to it and just want to log in and tell them all to be quiet and go find Jesus. But I decided that would mean I would have to be on their level, so I withheld from that temptation.  I should have learned my lesson about message boards then, but I tell you, old habits die hard.

So now I am trying to find some legit sources for this "Petersen to MSU" rumor.  Naturally I turned to the most legit source of all: I googled it.

Stupid message boards.  That's all I got.  And after one read, I was hooked.  My blood is boiling.

Do you know me?  If so, you might know that I am a bit proud of my state and my bulldogs.  Trey can confirm that I have been known to cry at more than one Mississippi State loss.  It is not that I am a sore loser, I just hate how little respect I get down here for being a fan.  And by down here, I mean I left Starkville for the first time in my life.  No one told me other places were not 100% bulldog.  To add to this,  I once told a man in Natchez that my life priorities were simple: Jesus, family, Mississippi State. But that is another story for another day. And one that Trey would rather not relive.

The point is simple: I can not stand to have these ludicrous comments being made about my beloved state and school.

Especially when the person commenting has a screen name like "Ilikemyfootballroughlikeilikemygirls"

I am done with that.

Readers, please.  Let's join forces and refuse to read these electronic slam books.

I feel better now that I have told someone about this.

Thanks for listening.

Happy Thanksgiving (a little late) and bye-bye sweet Croom

First of all...HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

I hope you all have a wonderful holiday. Trey and I have had a great one so far - and we are still going! We went to the coast to visit his family on Wed. night and stayed until Friday morning and then drove across the state to Starkville (God's country) to be with mine until tomorrow. It has all been wonderful. I have so many things to be thankful for - we truly feel so blessed. One of my greatest blessings is my family, my old and new family, so I am so thrilled to be here with them!

On a different note, I am so sad about Coach Croom. I know everyone has their opinion and I know everyone likes to win, but I love that man. He took a team that was in trouble and brought character back into the program. He has acomplished alot, including being named SEC Coach of the year last year.

Granted, we decided to not show up to the Egg Bowl, (I DON'T WANT TO TALK ABOUT IT), but I am still upset about his resignation. I wish him the best for sure.

Read about it here.

So long, Croom. You will be missed.

Ok, got to go play with Henry! Who, by the way, will be 2 on Monday and can say the ENTIRE ABCs, count to 10 and say things like "Heather, I have to sit here and concentrate."

True story. I love him.

tag!

I was tagged by the middle sister. I am supposed to list 6 things interesting about me and then tag 6 others to do the same.
So here you go:

1. I can't stand when things are spelled wrong on purpose. Example: Kountry Kitchen, KREATIVE BLOGGER! (it hurt me to put that up there, but I love my sis and I love lists.)
This is ironic because I can not spell worth a flip without spell check. But I ask, WHY spell incorrectly on purpose?

2.  Sometimes I like coffee and sometimes I don't.  I can't explain it.  Some days all I want is a good cup of Joe.  Others, if I think about it or smell it, I feel sick at my stomach.

3. I refuse to go to the tanning bed and I wear sunscreen everyday.  Yes, even when I spend all day in my office. I used to not be this way.  I regret that now.  Do I like being very pale? Heck no.  But I refuse to ruin my skin to try to look "good".  I recently got tan sprayed by a girl.  Not a machine. a person. It was worth it.  But I can't afford the upkeep.  $30 for a 3 day tan? Craziness.  I will just embrace my whiteness.

4.  I could spend all day with old people.  The older the better, I say.

5. I slept with the same baby doll for years.  Her name is Baby.  I had her when I was a baby.  Baby has been everywhere with me: through surgeries, vacations, sleepovers, college.  Yes, college.  Trey refused to sleep with me and Baby after our marriage, so I retired Baby to the
drawer in my bedside table.  I sleep with her when he is out of town.  She is in rough condition, having been through various "surgeries" herself.  I still love her.  I wish i had a picture of Baby. I would share it.

6. My dog wears pajamas. Proof:

weekend in Natchez

Last weekend a group of girls and I went to Natchez for one of our friend's wedding. We had the best time. Truth be told: I have never had a bad time in Natchez - right, Nan? Anyway, we all piled in my car and headed out Saturday morning. The wedding was gorgeous. Audrey got married outside on the porch of a mansion. Breathtaking. She both entered and left the ceremony in a white horse-drawn carriage. Very fairy-tale-esque. I loved it.
I also loved the dancing and the reception, but that is neither here nor there.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend.

The girls. We have girl's night. Like Sex and The City and Desperate Housewife watching:
Audrey, the bride, of course:
Audrey made the mistake of telling us that she and her new hubby were staying in the mansion where they wed. This, obviously, was also the place of the reception.
Audrey, now is the time to tell you that Jennifer and I took it upon ourselves to take pictures in your honeymoon room.
You gave us permission to look, which resulted in the taking of this picture:

And a few more reception and post-reception photo ops.

Fran, Erin, Me and Jennifer:
there was an accident:
Emily and Emily and me.
This was taken right after they admitted to blog stalking me. If that is not a kodak moment, what is?
Me, Erin, Fran, Jami and Jennifer at Fat Mama's.

CONTINUING ON TO SUNDAY:
We leave The Eola on Sunday morning and head out to grab some lunch before our trip back to the 'burg. Magnolia Grille. Yummy.
Did I mention I was the driver? Maybe now would be a good time to point out that fact.
Anyway, I parked the car and the five of us headed in for some good food.

AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER -
we walk back to my car when Erin looks at me and asked what that strange noise was.
It was my car. And it was running. The engine was on. For an hour and a half. Just sitting there. Waiting. Wasting.
Awesome.

AN HOUR AND A HALF LATER -
We are cruising on minding our own business when I look back and see a cop. With the lights on. Chasing me.
I pull over and await my sentence. I honestly didn't think he would give me a ticket. I have never even been pulled over. Cut a girl a break, man. No such luck. Without so much as a smile, he handed me my due. Crap. I didn't argue: I was going over the speed limit. But on my behalf, I thought the speed limit was 70. I later learned it was not...

After the cop handed me the dreaded yellow slip, he headed back to his un-marked car, no less. We were free to go. Careful not to speed, I slowly merged back onto the highway. What I didn't take into account was the gravel I was parked on.
I spun out.
Yep. Rocks were flying at the cop.
Good job, captain idiot.

Anyway, we laughed the rest of the way home, as I was driving 5 under the limit.

November 11, 2008

I don't want to talk about it.

I don't want to talk about the fact that I got my first speeding ticket by a sneaky unmarked car.

I don't want to talk about the fact that my bathtub is in my front yard.  Seriously. Don't ask. I said I didn't want to talk about it.

Or the fact that I showered on campus today before work and the water pressure was awful, thus resulting in a really bad 'do.

OR the fact that the men in the bathroom messed up my toothbrush so I went to the Corner Market to get another one AND THEY ARE OUT. Of toothbrushes? Why? They said they are getting a shipment on Thursday.  AWESOME. I will wait until then to brush my teeth.

BUT I do want to talk about my fun weekend in Natchez - so get ready for fun pictures.  Hopefully downloading tonight.  Get ready. It was fun.
