a few more firsts

First fun outing - Mexican!
This was taken a few weeks ago. When we walked in the restaurant the waiter announced "the baby has arrived! We have been waiting!" I think that is a sign we go too often! He loved it, as you can see.
First paci
Ok, this is actually the second time he took one. The first was from my friend, Lindsey. Apparently he only wanted the real deal from me.

I was not going to even try to give Jones a paci, but he likes to...ummmm... suck for a few minutes before he falls asleep. No eating, just wanted the satisfaction. So I thought a paci would be more appropriate in public. Unfortunately, he is not so sure! He has only accepted it twice.
First bottle

Trey and I tried and tried very unsuccessfully to get Jones to take a bottle from us. I am still nursing and plan on it for a while, but it will be nice to get a break and have him use a bottle every now and then! So I have been storing milk for weeks in anticipation for him to turn 5 weeks so we could try.
He hated it.

Totally offended at the very idea.

Then our friend, Brenda, came to bring us dinner and decided to give it a try. We left the room and left it up to her - and he took it!! Now he doesn't mind the bottle at all. He just had to learn that it was still the good milk, I guess! Thanks, Brenda!

I can't believe how much he is changing every day. He is 6 weeks old today and we love him more and more each minute!

He has been dealing with some acid reflux, but we started medicine last night that the doctor prescribed. And I may be jinxing it by saying this, but I think it is already helping! He slept from 9 pm - 6 am! I fed him at 9, 12, 3 and 6. With NO crying in between! This is a huge accomplishment. Bless his heart, he spits up so much I usually have to change his sheets in the middle of the night. It is bad! We did go through 2 pj changes last night, but he was not in pain. I can handle the spit up - but not him hurting!

We are having so much fun with this little man. I want to just bottle him up so I can remember him being this small. I don't want to rush it - even when I am so sleep deprived and he is screaming from tummy aches. It is all too precious and I am trying to savor each and every minute.

In other news...

Oh wait. There is no other news. Just Jones. But I love it!

hugging my monkey

Jones and I have a new favorite thing - the Huggamonkey sling!
Jones loves to be held.
AT. ALL. TIMES.
The closer, the better. Which I love, of course, but there are times when I need my hands during the day. My mom researched some slings and came across the Huggamonkey sling - and he loves it. And so do I. I never realized how valuable hands can be.

Here is Trey using it. Doesn't quite fit him, but whatever works! sweet little papoose

a week with my nana

my sweet nana is spending the week with us! What sweet memories we are making. Jones loves his great-grandmother so much already!

Mother's Day 2010

I am so blessed. I have the most wonderful examples of what a mother should be with my fabulous mommy, mil, and two grandmothers. I got to see them all this mother's day. And how special it was to spend my first mother's day with them. So thankful God has given me the privelage to be Jones' mommy. bI pray I will be even half the mommy that my mom is.

sweet cheeks and tiny hands

Jones has hands and fingers! After 2 weeks of me shoving his tiny little hands in gloves, I took the plunge and trimmed his nails. Well, not exactly. I was told not to clip them just yet; to either peel them or bite them. I couldn't bring myself to bite them off and peeling them didn't work so well. He still went straight to his face, which made us both cry! His sweet face had scratches all over them. I was OK with letting him wear his gloves to kindergarten if that is what it took - I couldn't stand to see him hurt. But then Elizabeth told me about baby files. Who knew? And we had some in his first aid kit all along. It worked like a charm. When he was fast asleep in his daddy's arms, Jones had his first manicure. So I am proud to say that my son is now glove free.

(showing off his new manicured nails)

Thanks for the tip, Elizabeth!
And take a look at these cheeks. Apparently Jones has his father's appetite - and it is starting to show.I love a chubby baby, and he is on his way to becoming one!
