lots of updates!

I have so much to update on. Jones and I have been in Starkville all week visiting my family. We had the best time! Lots of pictures and posts coming soon - stay tuned!

PS - I never got an email about that Shutterfly picture thing, but others have said it really did work. Someone help a sista out! What am I doing wrong?

goody goody gumdrop

Oh how I love pictures. Oh how I love Christmas. Oh how I love free things. Even more so now that I work for free.

Amanda posted about free Christmas cards over at Shutterfly. I have had a Shutterly account since college, thanks to Amanda. It comes recommended by yours truly.

Anyway, they are giving 50 Christmas cards away to bloggers. Hip Hip! Santa came early to me. I have used them in years past for cards and have always been so pleased.

Check it out!

it has been christened

The rug for Jones' playroom came in last night. I am not 100% sold on it. It is a bit loud and busy, but I told Trey I would put it down and live with it for a couple of days then make up my mind.

2 seconds after it was down, Jones crawled on the rug and spit up all over it. Does that mean he loves it and wants to keep it? Or hates it and was showing his disgust?

Either way, I can't send it back now without a guilty conscience. So it looks like the rug is ours.

I think I will like it better once I change the window treatments (it's a sun room. lots of windows.) and paint the walls (no clue what color...suggestions? I don't need it to be loud).

LOVE.

Tricia is so good. Every month I think there is no way she can top the previous month. And after every photo session I think to myself that there is no way she got good shots - he refuses to smile when she gets the camera out.

Well, she proves both thoughts wrong each time. She is incredible! If you are on the MS or AL coast (or wherever - she is worth the drive) you must check out Betty Donne Photography. You will not be dissapppointed.
I have a whole disk of amazing pictures. Here is just a sneak peak.

past few days

Friday night Trey and I went on a much needed date to Halfshell. It was as wonderful as I remembered. It had been a while. Trey ordered desert, if you are wondering. Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding. Necessary? Absolutely not. Delicious? Absolutely.

Saturday morning I spent a couple of hours getting a pedicure and manicure thanks to a sweet, sweet friend. Heavenly. Coffee in one hand, sleezy gossip magazine in another while a man whose name I cannot pronounce massaged my legs with hot stones. Oh glorious day.

I chose You Don't Know Jacques! for both my nails and toes. It's a go-to color.

And I feel glam.

We took Jones to the park Saturday afternoon. A cold front came in this weekend. No fear. Jones came prepared:

We worked some more on Jones' playroom. Have I mentioned I live with a real life Handy Manny? Trey made this bookcase out of recycled wood. I love it. We are in the process of converting the sun room into his playroom. Rug has been ordered. Pictures of finished room soon.

In the meantime, I lay down a blanket on the hard floors for Jones to play on. It was made by Jones' great-great grandmother. Trey played on it as a child. I think Jones approves.

We finally got Jones a highchair. I was being picky. I really want a wooden antique one. But I want it to look a certain way. I have not had much luck with that. Well, Jones isn't getting any younger (or smaller) and that Bumbo seat eating was getting a little out of hand. So we opted for a space saver highchair, because, let's face it, we need to save space around here.

Jones pretty much loves it. He sat in it again tonight while Trey and I ate dinner. He just watched us. Big boy.

We've been having a great time - hope you have too!

stanky mouth

I went to the dentist Thursday. First time since before I became pregnant. Yes, that was over a year ago. Don't judge. I've been busy.

Point is not the distance between last visit. The point is that I have five cavities. Count them. 5.

I cried. Not in the chair, although I wanted to. I waited until I got in the car and called my mom. A bit melodramatic for cavities, I know. What can I say. I am still a touch emotional.

I have had one cavity in my life up until this point. They say pregnancy and nursing can play a negative role in your dental health. Apparently my body knows to give Jones first of all nutrients I take in. Thought it was a wives's tale. Here I am today to say it's not.

I floss. I brush. I even Listerine. To no avail.

At about 200 bucks a cavity, I am less than thrilled about this baby adventure.

The sweet dentist told me it happens to a lot of women. And that my teeth otherwise were great.

Except for the one cavity that will need a crown in about a year. What am I? A 50 year old smoker? I die.

Thanks for letting me vent.

favorite food to date

sweet potatoes

Could not feed them to him fast enough.

Yes, he wanted to feed himself.
Yes, my husband let him.
And, finally, yes, we feed him naked in the Bumbo seat. Don't judge.

rain, rain go away.

It rained hard this morning, much to my little man's disapproval. He prefers being outside at all times. In his perfect world, he and Sophie would stay outside all day long.

This morning we resorted to sitting and looking out the back glass door at the rain. He was as happy as a clam. And I was able to sit and drink a full cup of hot coffee - a simple pleasure that does not always happen around here.

poor, poor Sophie

Since the birth of Jones, Sophie has had to settle to snuggling with inanimate objects.
The remote, for example.
Poor Soph.

Pumpkin Palooza

Jones' first Halloween was a blast. And he was the cutest snail I have ever seen.

We went to Pumpkin Palooza in downtown Starkville, tailgated at the UK vs MSU game Saturday (HAIL STATE), and played with family on Sunday. We had plans to get back to Gulfport early on Sunday and attend a Halloween party with some friends, but we just couldn't leave in time. We were having too much fun in Starkville.

Shrek!

PS - is it bad that I turned off the lights and hid when we got home Sunday night? I mean, it's 8:00, the baby is asleep, and you are 15 years old not in a costume. No candy for you.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
