Jones' animal birthday party

We did a low-key family party this year for Jones' 3rd. We had it at our house on my last weekend of maternity leave.  The whole family came over, minus Adam and Melinda in Baton Rouge and Clay, who had company in town. It was so fun and so relaxed! I made a zoo cake that I found on Pinterest.  Jones loved it, which made me feel like a super mom for about 2.5 seconds.

He requested two things for his birthday - animals and party hats. I was happy I was able to deliver!

Funny kid

I am going to get back to catching up, but I have to write down some of the funny things Jones has said recently. I don't want to forget a thing!

  • The first time he saw me nursing Anna Joy, he looked shocked then screamed "Oh gosh! She's eating your arm!"
  • One time he grabbed my pump, walked it over to me and said "Here mama, it's time to get the milk out of your belly".
  • Anna Joy rarely cries, and when she does it is usually because she is hungry. One afternoon she was fussing and Jones said "Baby yister is hungry. She wants a chicken nugget!".
  • The other day he heard something outside and stopped dead in his tracks. He looked at me and whispered "Did you hear that? I think its Super Man". A few seconds later he heard the noise again (a UPS truck) and he loudly said "Oh no, it's just a truck" then started playing again.
  • He is working on his initial /f/ words in speech.  The other night at dinner Trey and I were trying to get him to practice some words like he did in therapy that morning. He held up both arms and said "I did that this morning. I NOT do it again".
  • One morning while getting him dressed he looked in the mirror and said "I look so awesome. I am really handsome".
  • One night when I was home alone with the kids and going through an exceptionally difficult time getting him to go to bed, he interrupted my pleas to say "Grandaddy asleep, Lita asleep, baby yister asleep, Lala asleep, Henry asleep, Niten (Kristen) asleep, Uncle Adam asleep, Jesus asleep. Everyone asleep. But not Jones! Jones wide awake!!" Dear me.
There are so many stories I could tell. He is so hilarious and keeps us in stitches every day. He is strong-willed and oh so wild, but he seriously cracks me up daily. He is starting to obey better and we are all starting to enjoy our time together more and more. He is fun to hang out with these days! Age two made me cry a lot, but 3 is looking promising.  He is potty-trained, a big brother and starting a new 'big boy' class in the fall....three things he is proud of!

Love this boy more than life.

Easter lunch and Laura's birthday celebration

This is one of my favorite pictures! The children at church all put fresh flowers on the cross outside then sang "He Arose!" around the decorated cross.  All the children were in a semi-circle, except Jones.  He thought he was the leader! He sang his little heart out.
Lunch at Mom and Dad's....

Easter 2013

Since Sunday mornings are wild and we don't see Trey until we get to church, the Easter bunny comes on Saturday morning.  We don't really make a big deal about the bunny. In fact, Trey told Jones that the basket full of goodies was from us.  Not sure how we are going to work that out in the future!  It looks like the bunny went overboard, but both swimsuits were free (thanks to me hosting a Kelly Kid's party!) and the rest was from TJ Maxx.  I love a deal!

Saturday afternoon we went to the church Easter egg hunt and party.  It rained all day, so was moved indoors, but we still had fun.  The older I get, the more I love Easter.  I very well may love it more than Christmas!  Thankful we serve a risen Savior.

Anna's first church service

I finally went back to church on March 9th....I had not been since the first of November, and I am a minister's wife! She did great, slept the whole service.  She wore one of my old Feltman Brothers gowns. So sweet.

I was just impressed that I was able to get myself and both kids ready, dressed, fed, happy and out the door on time! It is much easier now that I am used to it, but I was not looking forward to that first Sunday morning. With Trey leaving for church around 7, it is up to me to get the rest of us there.  We may be wrinkled, but we have yet to be late!

A few pictures from the morning...

Please notice the sticker on her cheek.  Jones was proud. Poor Anna Joy.

Mamaw's 91st Birthday party

We celebrated my Mamaw's 91st birthday party on March 8th at the nursing home in Meridian.  She looked great and I loved introducing her to Anna Joy.  Anna is named partially after my Mamaw, Annie (or Ann, as everyone calls her), so I was trilled to get some sweet pictures of the two.

Mamaw's mind may not be at 100%, but just look how joyful she is in these pictures.  Does my heart good!
