counting sheep

When we decorated Jones' nursery, we apparently left off the most important thing: a mobile!

A few days ago we were at a friend's house for a play date and her little boy had one and Jones was amazed by that thing, so of course I had to order him one from BabiesRUs. (thanks for the gift card, Adelia!)

Well, it is a hit. He laughs out loud. He smiles so big. It is the cutest thing in the world.

Laura showed me how to upload videos to the computer from our new camcorder. I couldn't figure it out. My brain cells are shot, I think. Anyway,so now I have all the videos we have made since his birth. Everyone but my family might get bored with the videos that are sure to follow. Thanks, lala! Come back, we already miss you!

The problem is, Vimeo is not working for some reason and it is taking forever to upload video directly to blog. Any ideas anyone? I am a new with the video stuff!

It is amazing to look back at the old videos. It made me sad to see how big he has already gotten in such a short amount of time. He all of the sudden looks like a big boy. Jones, stop growing so fast! I want to just bottle this time up so I will never forget how precious it is. I get so caught up in trying to get him on a schedule, get him on a bottle, etc. when I just need to be enjoying him. It is flying. He will be 10 weeks on Saturday. That just can't be.

Here are some pictures of him LOVING his little lamb mobile. His laugh is the sweetest thing.
I just love this little man.

Videos hopefully coming soon

help. it's getting serious

Jones refuses the bottle 95% of the time. We have tried almost everyday since he was 5 weeks old. We have tried multiple types of bottles and nipples. The only kind he shows any interest in is BreastFlow by First Years.

Tonight I got dressed up (ok, I did my make-up and hair and put on jeans) and met some girlfriends for Mexican for a friend's birthday. Trey and Laura were with Jones. They finally called me after he screamed for an hour refusing the bottle. I didn't even get to order my taco.

Last night he took the bottle from Trey while Laura and I were with some friends for a couple of hours.
It is so sporadic, which makes me a nervous wreak leaving him.

He still eats every 2 - 2 1/2 hours, so that doesn't leave me a whole lot of time.
I have discussed with Jones that it is the same exact milk, just a different delivery method, but he seems uninterested in my logic.
Suggestions? Advice?

Thanks, friends.
And, for your viewing pleasure, here is Jones being totally adorable:

Thanks, Nan!

Nan designed the cute blog for me! Thank you! I totally accidentally messed it up in the worst way the other day. If you looked at it during that time, you know what I mean. The posts were everywhere!
Anyway, thank goodness fo creative and talented friends. Nan came to the rescue!
Now hurry up and move back to Mississippi. (wishful thinking, I know)

Daddy's day!

Trey and a sweet 2 day old Jones
Happy first father's day to my sweet husband! He is, hands down, the most amazing daddy to sweet Jones. He LOVES Jones. Go back and read the posts he wrote the day he was born. True love. I can't wait to watch the two in the years to come. Best friends, for sure!
Jones and I are so blessed to have him in our lives. I love you so much, Trey.
So glad you are my baby daddy!

And a special shout out to my daddy on this father's day! The first man I ever loved. He is amazing and I am so thankful for him. I knew I wanted to find a man that would love his children like he loved the three of us (and loved my mama!) And I did. So thankful for my dad's example of true love! Happy Father's Day, Daddy! Wish I could spend it with you. Pirated from LT's blog, here is my sweet daddy and his three girls back in the 80's.And here he is holding his second grandchild when Jones was 1 weeks old.

We love all the daddy's in our lives!

our little fish

We took Jones swimming at Trey's parent's house for the first time the other evening. He LOVED it! He was in awe by everything he saw. And I was in awe by his cute little belly in his seersucker trunks.

2 months

"You are taking me WHERE?"
"I demand to speak to someone about these shots you speak of."Jones had his two month check up/vaccination apt. today. I was drrrreeeeeeaddddding the shots. Luckily his daddy was there to hold him during the main event. I wanted to be the one to cuddle him afterwards, not holding him during the pain.
Thanks, Trey, for taking one for the team.
Here are his 2 month stats:
WEIGHT: 12 lb. 9. oz.
50th percentile
HEIGHT: 23 1/3 inches
50th percentile

HEAD (this is boring to me, but for records sake): 15 1/2 in
25-50th percentile
Just perfect! He has almost doubled in weight since we brought home that sweet 6 lb. 6 oz. baby. I am feeding him something good, I suppose.
The doctor was fabulous. We plan on sticking with her. Jones loved her as well. He batted his long eyelashes slowly at her while showing his dimple. Little flirt. She wanted to take him home, I am sure.
She increased the prescription for his acid reflux problems, so hopefully that will help even more. I was relieved to find out that the coughing is from the acid reflux and he is not getting sick. His pain during and after meals has gone down tremendously, but she said the constant, often projectile, vomiting will more than likely get worse before it gets better. As long as he is not hurting.
In the meantime, my house smells like spit up.
But he is cute.
He did surprisingly well during the shots (3!!). He cried during, but as soon as we picked him up, he was fine. He fell immediately to sleep on the way home.
Here are his 2 month pictures.
Again, the naked picture. I need to remember that sweet belly. I should try to get a better picture of him clothed. The one I am showing is the best I could get - and it's not so grand.
"Stop it. I am over it."

"Umm. A little help? I am falling and you keep taking pictures?"

"these people are nuts."

Happy 2 month birthday, my man! We love you more than we could have ever imagined and more than we will ever be able to describe.

baby wise

when i was pregnant, i quickly became overwhelmed at all of the books out there about having a baby and child rearing. each book seemed to contradict the other! so i chose after Jones was born to not listen to anything I read and just let him fall into a schedule naturally.

well, he did. and it included being awake from 1 am - 5 am many nights.

Not only that, but I could not plan my day at all. I would let him nurse at the first sign of crying, resulting in all day 5, 10 and 15 minute feeding sessions. We were both exhausted. And he was taking random naps on my chest - never in his crib - and not getting quality sleep resulting in a fussy baby.

after not being able to leave the house and many tired nights, I decided to take everyone's advice and utlilize BabyWise. I read the book when I was pregnant, but re-read it the other day.

We are on day 3 and it is fabulous.

Don't be fooled -the first day was terrible. The book warned about starting this late - it can be done, but there will be tears.

And there were.

And not just from Jones. The first time I put him in his crib for a nap, I sat outside his door with a bag of chips and cried my eyes out. I wanted with my whole heart to go pick him up and make him stop crying. But I stayed strong (with the help of talking to my sisters and mom during the crying) and he went to sleep after ten minutes. And, yes, it felt like 10 hours.

Now he still wimpers when we put him down for his naps, but it is so much better. And last night he slept from 9:30 - 3:30 and then went immediately back to sleep after eating and slept until 8. glorious!

And not only that, but I am feeling more confident. I know his cries. If he's tired, hungry, bored, etc. And can judge by the clock and his cry what we should do. I used to just offer my chest. Now I now know he eats, has an activity, then naps.

We are all much happier.

I do think that each mother/father/child must do what works for them, so I am not saying this is the only way, but if you are interested in my review: IT WORKS!

We are not to a perfect schedule yet, but we are getting closer and closer. And I just had to share the good news with my blog friends.

Now I am about to go to my in-laws to swim. Yes. I just bought a swimsuit. That is not fun when you DIDN'T just give birth. Welcome, first mommy swimsuit, welcome.

But first, I leave you with total cuteness:

morning happiness - love that dimple
he learned how to blow spit bubbles with his medicine
A little activity time

show me that smile

I love this little boy!

We have been on zantax for his acid reflux and he is like a new baby - no more pain! Which makes this mommy so happy. It was pityful. He is still having a few tummy issues. Lots and lots of spit up. Hungry, spits up, change clothes, hungry, spits up, change clothes, hungry. Repeat. All day and night. We are both worn out! The dr. was most concerned that he was spitting up three different kinds of spit up ( I won't go into detail here) so we are starting a second medication tonight. Wish us luck!

I never thought I would be blogging about spit up.

So, to prove to myself that I can blog about things other than sweet Jones, here are a few things I have recently started to love:

1) International House Skinny caramel macchiato creamer. Granted, I have to use it in decaf coffee, but it is soooo good. Can't wait until I can have the real deal with it. Yum-o.

2) Squash. I am eating it for the second night in a row.

3) Alice.com. Now that getting to the store takes an act of congress, it is much easier to utlize this genious site.

4) Skyping. This is new to me, but it is A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

That's all I can think of.

Other than it is HOT here. I know it's summer (almost) and it's Mississipi, but this, folks, is rediculous.

There has been a heat advisory here all day everyday all week this week. So we don't get out. I am not letting my sweet baby get overheated. I am becoming a bit stir-crazy. I am thinking a walk in the mall will be a must tomorrow.

Have a happy day, readers. Stay cool. And stay away from the oil. (stupid, bp)
