H = high heels

H is obviously for high heels,
as I have such a strong love/hate relationship with them.
On one hand, what's not to love? I can put on a pair of jeans and just an average shirt and feel okay, but then I add killer (in all conotations) high heels and I am immediately transformed into diva. Or so I feel.

There are many reasons one should love wearing shoes with a little pump. Perhaps most women long for the tall, slender look the heels claim to provide. Maybe you like the way your calf seems a bit more defined when you are wearing stilettos.

Me? I adore the achilles tendon. This is not a new adoration on my part. No, I have long been a fan of this ankle tendon. I always notice if people have a good (i.e. very prominent) achilles tendon. If we have met, I probably have noticed, and perhaps commented on, this feature. I notice them all - friends, strangers, men, women, but especially women. If fact, growing up I could tell you who had the best achilles tendon in my neighborhood (Claire) and who had the worst (the lady with the cats on Robinhood). I am not quiet sure of the root of this fascination. Maybe it is because my achiles tendon is not that great. And to make matters worse, no excercise I have found will better my tendon. and trust me, I have tried it all. I also love the clavicle, so much so that I used to pull my shoulders forward in pictures, allowing for intense clavicle depth, but that is a whole new post on a different day.

Back the the high heels: I also love the different aray of colors and styles the highheel can posess. You can't get away with polka-dot everything, but you can a well-made heel.
Exibit A:

However, the older I get ( not in college anymore) the more I enjoy flats (my feet hurt), and actually thank the style gurus (Stacey and Clinton) for allowing them to be stylish.

Having shared my adoration for this highly impratical high shoe, I must also point out a few bad ones I have seen. (some today, on students, walking to class. so wrong on so many levels)

1. I will never understand the part sneaker/part stiletto look. why would you do that?

2. I think glass / clear heels are just wrong. If you add the platform look, you double the street walker look. But what do I know?

You are hilarious!!! I personally have never given much thought to achilles tendons, other than when I have had my ankle run over by a buggy in the grocery store. Not fun.

Anyhoo, thanks for the distraction from work. I needed it.

Heather,
I'm Whitney Williams, I know you don't know me from Adam,(I was a XO at State with MSKS) but I just HAD to tell you how much I love reading your blog! Almost every post makes me laugh out loud!! You are just too precious!

I too have a love/hate relationship with the high heel. They KILL my feet, but as soon as I slip on a good pair of 3 1/2"inchers"(with spanks of course! ha!) I suddenly feel 10 lbs lighter! :)

Come visit our blog sometime!

Feath,

It turns out teaching has killed my achilles tendons and I am developing cankles. So, I'm afraid I might soon be forced to hand over my title.
