spring fling help

I love this weather. 70's with a coastal breeze. Yesterday Sophie and I took an amazing nap outside in the sun. I gained a few freckles. It was just fabulous.

However, I have about 2 outfits that are both weather appropriate and fit my ever growing belly. I have started going through my sad wardrobe. And it is just that, sad. I am not working for the first time in a long time, so my current business casual wardrobe does me little good. Not to mention my body has taken a slight change for the round. And I don't expect to have a rockin' bikini bod by the end of the summer, either. I need to work with what I got.

So I need clothes.

Practical, spring and summer attire. Post baby-belly, yet I am sure not flat belly just yet. Clothes I can wear out with Jones. Comfortable. Casual. Hot coast weather appropriate. And most importantly - affordable.

A couple of no's - No mini dresses/skirts. Is this trend almost over? Maybe it already is. Here's hoping.

And I heard that denim leggings are in style this spring. I just don't think I can, for more than a few reasons.

For starters, I am afraid I would look less like this:

And more like this:

And neon colors are also in, according to the Today Show. I am just not convinced. Prove me wrong, friends, but from where I sit, I am not buying. I did the neon thing in the 80's. And I am sure on Derby Days.

I like to think at one point in my life I was somewhat stylish. I don't know. Maybe not. But I can assure you, I am no such thing anymore. So I need help.

Don't leave out the much needed sandals and handbags. Those are needed as well.

So, do you have any...

Websites?
Stores?
Ideas or inspirations?

I am really out of the loop. Please send any and all my way.
And did I mention it must be affordable? They will, after all, be spit up on.

Thanks, bloggers.

Heather, you are too funny. But smart! The good thing about having a spring/summer baby is that you will not be holed up in the house (as you would with a winter baby to keep from cold and sickness)! But you are right, you will want to get out and about at some point! I suggest Target. Literally half my wardrobe is from there (now and post preg) and it is affordable and stylish - yet you can find staples like tanks and tees. I know that Target is not a mind blowing realization, but ya know. I also suggest Francesca's if you have an event where you want to be cute this summer, but not break the bank. Good news is that the flowy, empire waist style is still around! So even if your tummy is not back to its pre-baby glory, you will be fine!!! (and for the record, I love flowy shirts these days - two kids and 4.5 years later, i am embracing the mush =)) im not sure if you are planning on nursing or not, but if you are, i would try to find a couple of button down shirts that you like...
yay for baby being here soon!!!

My advice: Forget "the loop" and what is trendy, because those are the things you'll end up hating after awhile. Go for comfy and classic style over fashion.

Clearly I know what I am talking about as i sit here in yoga pants, knee socks, & flip flops.

Cannot wait to meet Jones!

The picture made me LOL! Hilarious, although you don't have to worry about looking like that you cute pregnant girl! :) ANd I don't know a thing about fashion after 3 kids! It's an accomplishment to just get a shower every day much less look cute!

You crack me up.

Although I am not a fashionista by any means...I would suggest Forever 21 (super cute tops- and they have alot of the flowy ones which can hide)

Old Navy has super cute maxi dresses and sundresses. I would wear a maxi dress over jeans any day of the week.

I also like Target. You can get some pretty cute tops, tanks, etc on the clearance racks.

I can't help with accessories. I need help in that area myself.

I cannot say that I'm up to speed on the latest trends, and I am still sporting a muffin top thanks to my little guy who is now 7 months old, but here's my one post-pregnancy fashion tip...buy shirts that are longer than you think you need. I knew my pants would fit differently after having a baby, but it was as if someone took 2 inches off the bottom of all of my shirts. I guess wearing super long maternity shirts to cover the big belly got me accustomed to longer than normal tops. So, don't be alarmed if all of the shirts you used to wear suddenly feel much too short.

And, regarding an earlier post...enjoy the detergent sniffing while you can....your days of leisurely grocery shopping may be coming to a screaming halt! (I'm embarrassed to say that I actually treasure the solo trips to the grocery store these days.)

So happy for you!! Baby boys are just wonderful! You're gonna be an awesome mommy!
