high maintenance

no one can say we don't love our pup.  she is like a child to me.  I do realize if I had a human child, I would soon realize that sophie is, in fact, a canine, but right now she is as much human to me as, well, trey.

We have noticed lately that she has been having trouble breathing...weezing, snorting, etc.  She has had allergies (and thus expensive allergy shots) and we credited the increase breathing problems to increase pollen.

last night, however, she could not sleep (and thus neither could we).  She has always had a hard time catching her breath when she is really excited, but last night she couldn't catch her breath from just laying there.  mother's intuition: i knew she must see a doctor.  It was pitiful.

So off to the vet we went this morning.  They couldn't hear a clear heart beat, had fever and she had very rapid breathing. Panic, of course.

Well, they just called and little miss has terrible asthma, with fluid built up in her lungs.  On top of that, they did an overall check up to discover she also has gingivitis.  Bless her.

We take her to for check ups all the time, she even takes vitamins for crying out loud.  I feel so bad for her.  Now she will be on antibiotics to clear the lungs and be on asthma treatment, on top of allergy shots.

Poor sophie.  She will gladly accept get well gifts, if interested.

I can totally understand. We took Albe to the vet 2 times on Wednesday. He was so sick it was pitiful. My heart broke for the poor fella. Adam said, " I guess this is what it will be like with our kids." I said, "except you don't leave them and pick them up later." Love and miss you.

Oh, I'm so sorry. Our little men have had a few health problems too this year. It's so scary and sad. Poor little creatures can't understand what's happening or why you are torturing them. I hope Sophie is better soon!

P.S.- Will you be my KD Big Sis? It's between you and Rosie Pennington, but she's a little gruff.

poor sophie...she has more problems than Maggie! that's incredible...speedy recovery, furry friend. I just found out that the generic flea and tick stuff that I bought for maggie several months ago has been taken off the market in Nashville because it KILLED a dog! I almost had a panic attack! Be strong, mama heather. and Tricia, you left a legacy out of your list...magnolia mae wolfe whose mother and aunt were delta omegas as well!
